Accessibility statement of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media

This accessibility statement applies to version 1.0.4 of the KulturPass application (Android) of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.

The Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media is striving to make its websites and mobile applications accessible in line with the Act on Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (Gesetz zur Gleichstellung von Menschen mit Behinderungen, BGG) and the Ordinance on Accessible Information Technology (Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung, BITV 2.0).

Level of compliance with requirements

The accessibility requirements for mobile applications are laid down in
section 3 (1) to (4) and section 4 of the Ordinance on Accessible Information Technology, which was issued on the basis of section 12d of the Act on Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities.

The compliance of the KulturPass application (Android) with these requirements was tested through an evaluation carried out on 9 June 2023.

Non-accessible content

The KulturPass application (Android) is partially accessible. Many of the requirements set out in BITV 2.0 have been met.

The following areas are not accessible or are only partially accessible:

  • In many parts of the application, information is not presented correctly. The structure of the application is difficult for users to understand. For users of assistive technologies, navigating the application is difficult and in some cases impossible.
  • Not all of the elements under “For You” or “Search” can be accessed in an expected way by keyboard. The “Hi” user area is not accessible by keyboard.
  • Error messages on the login screen disappear quickly.
  • In the search function, the radius cannot be set directly by text input.
  • A few filter options are not available when the text is enlarged. In a few spots, the element frames are not enlarged along with the text.
  • Less content is difficult to perceive when text is enlarged in the operating system.
  • The focus is not visible within the application.

The Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media is striving to remove these barriers to accessibility incrementally in the next versions of the application.
